This page provides information on travelling between the Netherlands and Yorkshire (UK). The main goal is to promote the use of public transport (train, coach, ferry) at the lowest fares possible. This is an english version of a Dutch webpage.

Travel time: ~12 hours, route via Calais(FR) by Eurotunnel (coach with boarded passengers is transported on a car train) or by ferry (no access to the coach during sailing). Be prepared for waiting times at ferry, eurotunnel and/or customs.

National tickets can be obtained at train stations, but are also sold online by several UK train operators (like Cross Country) at reduced fares. *Collect your prepaid tickets at stations from ticket machines by using a supplied code + debit/creditcard (identification only).

National tickets can be obtained at train stations from ticket machines or at ticket counters (adding a small fee) , using debit/creditcard or cash.
2nd / 1st class tickets: single, return (same day) or weekend return.
No discount if tickets bought in advance. No seat reservations possible.

40% discount if one person in your travelling party (max. 4 pers) owns an off-peak discount card (valid 1 year, apply at NS).

In 2010 an electronic ticket system (chipcard) will be implemented for all Dutch public transport, read more....
